2009 Is Upon Us

Looking into the next year, we have identified a few areas that we are going to focus our attention toward. Our Plan For 2009, we will be focusing on three areas for our family.  Reaching Out - One of our core values is to "reflect the image of our community".  In order to do this, we must be willing to be a part of all peoples and nations found within the Tri-Cities and the East Bay.  We will begin by focusing on our neighborhoods and being the hands and feet of Christ. Reaching In - We value family and consider the spiritual family of God the utmost testimony of God's love for the world second only to that of a Marriage.  Learning how to minister to each other 'in truth and in love' is no easy task.  We are going to begin walking in a manner worthy of our calling and encourage each other ...

Critical Study of I Corinthians Wed 7 PM

We just finished an 11 month journey through Ephesians and have embarked on an in depth and critical look at Paul’s first letter (well second) to the Corinthians. Starting by looking at Paul, his training, his life and the culture of this capital city, Corinth, we will take a deep look at one of the most controversial letters in the entire New Testament. 1 Corinthians holds the most famous text, chapter 13 on love as well as the most infamous text in chapter 14 dealing with spiritual gifts, order in worship and the role of women in the church. Join us as we take the next year to 18 months to devour this text entirely.  For the rest of this year, read the first and second chapters.  If you need some commentary, please check www.crosswalk.com for some free resources.

Well Done Church!

I have to say that although I knew our congregation was a giving and mission minded people, I had no idea how true this was.  I rec'd a letter today from Jerry Rankin, the president of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, and in this letter he stated that this past year's Lottie Moon Christmas offering was going to be the largest in history. This news alone was exciting, but what I was not expecting was this next statement:     "It (the Lottie Moon Offering) is projected to surpass the 2006 record of $150,178,098.06.  This was the result of extraordinary giving by your church.  The members of your congregation led the entire East Bay Baptist Association in both total dollars and per capita dollars given to the annual mission offering." Hebrews 8

We are finally finished with the "Healthy Church" series and are now continuing in Chapter 8 of Hebrews.  My goal is to finalize the chapter in two weeks, so read chapters 1 through 8 for this week to be prepared. Continue to pray for all that God is doing in us and that we will be sensitive to His leading as we embark on a new beginning! Apologetic & Evangelism Training

Pray for Evangelism
